If your dream is to publish the next New York Times best-seller, start a social media account. Whether it’s Twitter or Tumblr, there is an entire digital audience waiting to make your literary and artistic aspirations relevant and send you straight into a publishing deal.

Tumblr founder, David Karp, said earlier this year that at least 70 of the site’s users have gotten book deals as a result of their popular blogs. In a recent Mashable post, a list of 12 social media accounts that turned into books were noted for their humor and wisdom. “Sh*t My Dad Says” by Justin Halpern topped the list, but if you want to see the whole list click here.
